〔始めから〕 from the start; 〔生まれつき〕 by nature; 〔まったく〕 out-and-out; 〔(否定形とともに) 全然, まるきり〕 《not》 at all; 《not》 a bit [whit]; 《not》 in the least.

●根っから知らない know nothing 《about…》; do not have the slightest [haziest] idea 《of…》.

●根っからの楽天家である be born an optimist; be a born optimist

・あいつは根っからの怠け者だ. He is a naturally idle [lazy] person. | He was born idle.

・彼は根っからの悪人ではない. At heart [bottom] he's not really a bad person.

・私の母は根っからの芝居好きです. My mom is an out-and-out theater buff.

・彼は根っからの政治家ではない. He is not a politician by nature [born and bred].
